BFMS Picnic

We welcome you to join us for an afternoon of fun and camaraderie as we resume BFMS in person activities! Hooray! Since it has been 2 years since many of us have seen each other, name tags are a good idea to consider. The picnic will be held at Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center. This lovely park is located in Parkton, Maryland, just twenty-five minutes north of Baltimore City and 30 minutes south of York, Pennsylvania. There is no charge for this event. However, we would welcome a donation of $2 a person or $5 for a family of 3 or more. For health considerations, this will not be a potluck. Please bring your own food and beverage to enjoy. PLEASE NOTE: Pre-registration is required for this event. As a community that cares about the health and well being of alI members, we are requiring that participants be vaccinated and boosted. Preregister at this link: 2022 BFMS Picnic Registration by April 22nd. Please also note that Genesee Valley does not allow pets. The park requests that we remove our own trash.

A Circle of Fun is planned! Please bring a folding chair or picnic blanket so that you can join as many circles as you wish. In addition to Marlin Ballards famous juggling instruction, we will have a frisbee, hula hoop, and wiffle ball extravaganza, an old time music circle, story swap circle, English Country Dance Music Circle, craft circle, and possibly a “squeeze in” for our accordion and concertina players. We will endeavor to stagger the events, so that you can participate in more events. Other spontaneous activities and just plain old fashioned socializing is sure to happen as well.

“Have you downsized your house and upsized your body during the pandemic? We have a solution for you! We will have a dance clothes/music books/CD swap. You can also sell items or crafts if you wish or just put them out so they can be adopted into a good folkie home. You may want to bring a table to display your items.”

Parking is in a parking lot relatively close to the picnic area. 3 parking places closest to the picnic tables will be reserved for handicap spaces. However, you may drop off any heavy items there, before returning to the parking lot. Volunteers will be on hand to assist you and welcome you.

Directions:
Geneses Valley Outdoor Learning Center is located in northern Baltimore County, just 25 minutes north of Baltimore City and about 8 minutes south of the Pennsylvania border.

– I-83 to Exit 31 (Middletown Rd)
– From the South, turn Left off of the ramp at the 3-way stop onto Middletown Rd
(From the North, veer Right off of the ramp onto Middletown Rd)
– Continue down Middletown Rd for approximately 2.5 miles
– Turn Left on Rayville Rd (before Wally’s Store/BP Gas)
– Continue down Rayville Rd less that a half mile
– Entrance is on Left at 1717 Rayville Rd

Visitor Parking and Drop-Off is down the driveway on the left
